Monterey Bay Recommendation: Buyer beware! Pike is on the "Avoid" list. Look for other seafood that's rated "Best Choice."

Uses in Cooking: Baked, roasted, pickled, poached or smoked. Due to the abundance of bones in these fish, they are often minced and made into cakes.

Description: The meat of this fish is firm and sweet and makes a great fish and chips. The meat holds together well and is not oily.

Fun Facts: Pike are voracious eaters, known to eat prey as large as squirrels and ducks.
